The Presidential Water Commission (Civilian Chairperson Bae Deok-hyo) will hold the ‘1st Regular Seminar 2025’ on the theme of ‘Ways to Contribute to Carbon Neutrality in Water Resource Management’ on March 13 in the afternoon at Post Tower (located in Jung-gu, Seoul).

This event was organized to examine water resource management policies and their implementation status in adapting to climate change and achieving carbon neutrality in the era of climate crisis, as well as to discuss ways to contribute to carbon neutrality.

More than 100 participants, including officials from the Ministry of Environment and related agencies, affiliated organizations, academia, and experts, are expected to attend the seminar. Following presentations* on four key topics, including carbon absorption in waterfront areas and the reduction effects of improved water circulation, a comprehensive discussion will be led by Kim Hyun-joon, a member of the Presidential Water Commission.

Civilian Chairperson Bae Deok-hyo stated, “As extreme weather events become more severe each year, it is crucial to make proactive efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the water sector to effectively respond to climate change.” He added, “The various opinions presented at this seminar will greatly contribute to establishing a greenhouse gas emission inventory for the water sector and formulating carbon neutrality strategies.”
