□ The Presidential Commission on Climate Crisis Response (Chair: Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, hereinafter referred to as the “Climate Response Commission”) will hold a joint briefing session on international mitigation projects for companies interested in such initiatives, together with relevant ministries*, on Friday, March 20, at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

ㅇ The briefing will proceed with an overview of each ministry’s 2026 budget for international mitigation projects and support measures, as well as the status of bilateral agreement signings and future plans, followed by an introduction to insurance products related to international mitigation projects (Korea Trade Insurance Corporation), a presentation on international organization-linked support programs (Global Green Growth Institute, GGGI), and a Q&A session.

ㅇThis briefing, hosted by the Climate Response Commission, has been held since 2024 and marks its third iteration this year. It was organized by integrating briefings that had previously been conducted separately by each ministry, enabling companies to review key information, including ministry-specific support programs, in a single session.

□ The 2026 budget for international mitigation projects totals KRW 55.7 billion, including “installation support projects” to secure international mitigation outcomes and “feasibility studies” to plan and identify new projects. Detailed information on each ministry’s support programs can be found in the respective ministry announcements.

□ Hong Dong-gon, Vice Secretary-General of the Climate Response Commission, stated, “International mitigation projects are an important means of reduction that not only contribute to addressing the global climate crisis but also expand overseas opportunities for Korean companies.”

ㅇHe added, “Through this integrated briefing, we expect companies to more easily understand government policies and support systems related to international mitigation projects, and, based on this, to expand the identification of and participation in high-quality international mitigation projects.”

□ The government plans to strengthen administrative and technical support across the entire project lifecycle, from project planning to the issuance of mitigation outcomes, to ensure that domestic companies can carry out international mitigation projects in a stable manner, while also pursuing institutional improvements to support these efforts.
